As we are fast approaching Christmas Day, we want to take some time to reflect on the year. With the UK moving from Tier-to-Tier lockdowns, many people across the country have found themselves hit by the devastation of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The most common feeling we have all faced at some point during these difficult times has been loneliness. Many of us have found ourselves isolated, alone, and away from family, friends and loved ones, all people that we would otherwise see and speak to on a regular basis.
Whilst government measures are in place to keep us all safe and healthy, we can’t help but miss the social interaction of everyday life and the warmth and happiness that this brings. Without these interactions, there is an absence in our lives, and it is one that becomes more noticeable as time goes on.
If the pandemic has taught us anything, it is that even the simplest forms of contact can have a huge impact. Being able to leave our homes, speak with others, or ‘do’ something with people is a great experience that can lift spirits and ultimately our positivity. Whether it’s a knock at the door, or a wave through the window, the simplest things can count and make us smile with complete happiness.
Sadly, this December, not everyone has the opportunity to experience these happy moments of exchange. For those of you that have or are experiencing isolation, due to the pandemic or otherwise, we at Absolutely are thinking of you.
Over the course of the year, thousands of couriers across the country have worked tirelessly to help businesses and people alike, delivering essential items. From medication to groceries, health and fitness equipment to garden supplies, the entire delivery industry has played a crucial part in keeping the country operating but also through interacting with many people.
From myself, and the whole Absolutely team, we want to take a moment to say ‘thank you’ and wish you all well. We hope that you stay happy, healthy and in good spirits for 2021.
If there is one thing to take away from this year, it would be to make time to help others who may be facing challenges of their own, that are not always obvious. Remember, all it takes is a moment from you to make someone’s day, so let’s share some happiness this December and help each other get through a time when we are stronger with our eyes and hearts, by being open to each other, even in the simplest of ways.
If you see someone and have the opportunity, give them a smile, or a wave, and let’s get through this period in positive spirits, together.
